The pulmonary capillary bed in various forms of pulmonary hypertension.

چکیده
IN A PREVIOUS STUDY of the pulmonary capillary bed in mitral valve disease,' the mean value for pulmonary diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DL) was found to be significantly lower than normal, in agreement with several other reports.2 7 This was due mainly to impairment of the membrane diffusing capacity (DM). Reduction in pulmonary capillary blood volume (V,) was found only in patients with higher pulmonary vascular pressures and resistances. It was suggested that reduction of V. was due to constriction

Recent Trends in the Management of Pulmonary Hypertension
Context. Pulmonary hypertension is a common clinical problem encountered in day-to-day practice. Drug therapy forms the backbone of management and appropriate drug selection is based upon the underlying causes. The options available are widening with availability of newer therapeutic agents and thus it becomes necessary to be updated with the recent developments. Objective. To review the existi...
متن کاملArrhythmias in Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension; A Narrative Review of the Current Literature
Incidence and prognostic relevance of supraventricular arrhythmias were evaluated in nine studies. These studies investigated patients with different forms of pulmonary hypertension. Supraventricular arrhythmias were more often found in patients with group two pulmonary hypertension. Common findings in these patients were elevated right atrial pressure and diameters and reduced tricuspid annula...
متن کاملPulmonary Hypertension Registry: a 10-Year Experience
Background: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a fatal orphan disease, is defined as increased mean Pulmonary Arterial Pressure (mPAP) above 25 mm/Hg, Pulmonary Capillary Wedge Pressure (PCWP) below 15 mm/Hg, and pulmonary vascular Resistance over 3 Wood Unit (WU). Although Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a relatively prevalent disease, the idiopathic form (iPAH) is a rare disease with a pre...
متن کاملEvidence for local platelet activation in pulmonary vessels in patients with pulmonary hypertension secondary to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
To investigate the relationships between local platelet activation in pulmonary vessels and pulmonary artery pressure circulating platelet aggregates and plasma beta-thromboglobulin (beta-TG) levels were evaluated in peripheral venous blood and blood from different sites of pulmonary circulation (right ventricle, pulmonary artery and arteriolo-capillary bed) in 29 patients with COPD. Fifteen ha...
متن کاملChronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension: do we need a new definition?
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is the end result of persistent obstruction of the pulmonary arteries following episodes of acute and/or recurrent pulmonary emboli [1]. Pulmonary hypertension probably stems from a smaller pulmonary arterial cross sectional area due to thrombus organisation and a redistribution of blood flow through the patent pulmonary arterial bed produci...
